The Mode Engine

Five modes. 30 client components. Single-purpose rendering.

Each physical device is assigned one mode, a locked single-purpose interface. Five modes: Check-In (7 types), Self-Order (6 types), Concierge (7 features), Showroom (2 views), Registration (2 flows). Mode assignment determines which UI the device renders, which platform data it reads, and which records it writes.

The Device Registry

QR provisioning. 30-second heartbeat. Two-minute offline detection.

A device-centric management layer. Every kiosk registers with a unique key, health score, platform fingerprint, and assigned mode. Three-step zero-touch activation. Heartbeat telemetry every 30 seconds. Offline detection at 120 seconds. Five device statuses. Remote restart, deactivation, and over-the-air configuration push.

The Provisioning Pipeline

Heartbeat Telemetry

Devices report every 30 seconds: app version, OS version, screen resolution, battery level, and composite health score. Platform recorded per device for compatibility tracking. Offline detection triggers at 120 seconds without heartbeat. Every minute of undetected downtime is lost throughput during peak hours.

5statuses

Device Registry

All registered devices with name, location, status, mode, platform, last ping, and health score. Five statuses: online, offline, error, pending, locked. Search by name or location. Filter by status, location, or mode. Remote restart and deactivation per device.

0OS access

Lockdown Mode

Guided access (iOS) or kiosk mode (Android). Home button, notification center, and system settings disabled. Application fills the screen. No OS-level exit possible.

OTAupdates

Remote Configuration

Over-the-air branding updates, device restart, mode reassignment, and status monitoring from the device registry. No physical device access required. Configuration changes propagate in under 60 seconds.

Eight steps. QR activation. OTA configuration.

Hardware selection, QR provisioning, branding configuration, idle behavior, and fleet monitoring. No MDM enrollment. No app store login. No manual device-side configuration.

1

Select hardware

Tablet, standalone terminal, or wall-mounted display. Install kiosk application.

2

Generate provisioning code

Application generates unique 6-character alphanumeric code. 900-second expiry.

3

Scan and configure

Operator scans QR or enters code on web dashboard. Sets device name, location, and mode.

4

Device online

Status transitions from pending to online. Assigned mode interface renders immediately.

5

Apply branding

Logo upload, accent color, background color, idle screen background, welcome title and subtitle.

6

Configure idle behavior

Timeout duration (30s to 10m), screen type (welcome, slideshow, blank), slideshow interval (10 to 60s), dimming.

7

Monitor fleet

Device registry tracks online status, health scores, uptime, and activity per device.

8

Process transactions

Check-in, ordering, and registration data writes to Ops, POS, Contacts, and Navigator.

Configuration layer

Clock and Weather

Optional clock and weather display on idle screen. Local time and weather data. Enable or disable per device.

Waiver Templates

Reusable waiver templates with name, content, and signature requirement. Applicability set per kiosk type. Enable or disable per check-in type. Signatures attach to contact document history.

Layout Modes

Three layout modes per device: Standard (full nav), Compact (minimal chrome), Fullscreen (no nav, content fills screen).

Multi-Language

On-screen language selector. Language choice available at any point during session. Configured per device.

StandardNavigation bar with content area. Full sidebar, headers, and system chrome visible.
CompactMinimal chrome with maximized content. Collapsed navigation. More screen for the active workflow.

Per-device performance metrics

Sessions per device per day

Utilization count by device. Identifies high-traffic and low-traffic positions.

Error rate per device

Failed transactions, timeout resets, and offline events per device per period.

Peak usage hours

Hourly heatmap of activity per kiosk. Staffing and positioning data.

Mode-specific conversion

Started vs. completed interactions per mode. Drop-off point identification. Every abandoned session is a missed transaction.

Average transaction value

Per-device, per-mode ordering revenue. Position and layout comparison data. Identifies which device placements drive higher spend.

Device health score trend

Heartbeat-derived score over time. Hardware degradation detection.

Separate self-order kiosk from a third-party POS vendor
Separate concierge tablet app (per-device licensing)
Separate digital signage system for wayfinding
Separate waiver signing platform (per-signature pricing)
MDM enrollment required for every device
No shared data layer between kiosk applications
Manual device monitoring with no health reporting
Per-device licensing fees multiplied across vendors
Multiple vendor contracts for hardware and software
Separate admin dashboard per kiosk application
No guest record linkage across kiosk interactions

Calisto Navigator

Check-in kiosks read reservation data and guest profiles. Check-in completion writes arrival status and triggers digital key provisioning via Access.

Reservation Lookup → Identity Match → Check-In → Key Trigger

Calisto POS

Self-order kiosks read menu catalog, pricing, and modifier configuration from POS. Orders route to kitchen display. Payment transactions process through the same gateway.

Menu Catalog → Order Build → Payment → KDS Route

Calisto Ops

Check-in reads reservation and room assignment data. Service requests, maintenance tickets, and check-in logs write to the operational timeline.

Reservation Data → Check-In Log → Service Request → Timeline

Calisto Signal

Kiosk devices register in Signal's fleet management console. Concierge content and wayfinding maps read from Signal. Heartbeat pings and health scores write back.

Fleet Register → Heartbeat Ping → Health Score → Incident

Calisto Contacts

Every check-in and order links to a Contact record. Walk-in guests create new records with kiosk source attribution. Waiver signatures attach to document history.

Walk-In → Contact Create → Waiver Attach → Order Link

Calisto Events

Ticket check-in validates against the Events attendee database. Race check-in reads marathon registration data. Event wayfinding displays venue layouts.

Ticket Scan → Attendee Match → Entry Confirm → Venue Map

Calisto Services

Waiver templates and signing requirements read from Services configuration. Session check-in validates against service bookings. Signed documents write back.

Template Read → Waiver Render → Signature Capture → Record

Calisto Access

Check-in completion triggers access code generation or smart lock provisioning. Lock provisioning rules and zone configurations read from Access.

Check-In Complete → Code Generate → Lock Provision → Audit

Calisto Display

Kiosks and Display share device management patterns: QR activation, heartbeat monitoring, template assignment. A display shows content; a kiosk accepts input.

QR Activate → Heartbeat Sync → Template Assign → Status

Calisto Purview

Menu items for self-order kiosks read from Purview F&B catalog. Service menus read from Services catalog. Order selections write item popularity metrics back.

Catalog Read → Menu Render → Order Select → Popularity

Calisto Pulse

Dynamic pricing from Pulse applies to kiosk ordering in real time. Seasonal rates, time-of-day pricing, and demand adjustments reflected on the kiosk menu.

Rate Rule → Price Apply → Order Volume → Demand Signal

Calisto Deals

Showroom kiosk interactions create leads in Deals with device source attribution. Property views, floor plan requests, and information inquiries all captured.

Property View → Info Request → Lead Create → Attribution
